The beauty of change

I really enjoy the chances I get to change other people lives, its only when you sit down with someone who you have helped and they start to explain exactly how what you have done has changed their life so dramatically, whilst I am not so ignorant to believe that it was all down to me, I do like to hear the stories of being able to do so much more with their lives due to the changes they have made, some are minor in comparison to others and case histories cannot and will not be discussed by me, but I have had the honor of helping people with some of the most horrendous things that anyone can endure and some of the best times in their lives,

This morning as an example I saw someone who wanted to stop smoking, and I sincerely hope that what happened this morning has changed his life forever, He is an athlete, he trains every day, and is looking for some balance in his life and didnt understand how or why he still continued to smoke, why he found it so hard to kick the habit of smoking, the session started with a chat as all my sessions do, which for me is the most important part of the therapy as I get to know much more about him and what he has achieved in his life and what he still wants to achieve, he had done lots and wanted to still push for more, he had all the answers as many of my clients do, they know what Smoking is doing to them, they know how much money they will save, they know how it affects others around them and how the perception of them by other people is not nice.

Yet, they still cannot find the answer, so NOW with what seems to be a simple change of his mind, he no longer smokes, he is smiling, he has a new perspective, a new aim in life, he can focus on what he wants NOW, not what he doesnt want, which is so common when giving up something, you tend to not see the wood for the trees, focussing only on what you are giving up and rarely on what you are gaining by being healthier, having more money in your pocket, being able to sustain training sessions without struggling for breath as much, smelling fresh.

The changes in his life will also appear each and every day that he continues on the high road to success by being a non smoker, things that he didnt even know were going to happen will happen, things that he maybe wasnt expecting, all positive changes that he will notice.

The cost of cigarettes are shockingly expensive, which is not always the first concern of the client, but when you are paying in excess of £200.00 per month to smoke it (to me) sounds a lot, even more when you remind yourself that its costing £2400.00 per annum, which could pay for a nice holiday, the reason most dont focus on this part of the problem is the fact that they only have to find a fiver a day and its always the first thing they buy, before anything else, some people actually abstain from eating so they can buy their fags,

The feeling of being trapped by cigarettes is sometimes unnoticed, until you ask a smoker what they would feel like if you took their pack away from them, even if they have just smoked a fag, they would be worried that they dont have a ciggie for the next time, they feel trapped, almost desperate, from an outsider (non smoker) it seems totally irrational, but to the person experiencing the symptoms of this destructive habit its very real.

The No Shoes Show

Having just returned from another fantastic week in Denver Colorado, I had the honour of performing a Hypnosis demonstration in The Denver Dojo, now my favourite place in Denver, with such comfortable floors to land on if you are a Judoka, and the freindliest people you could ever wish to meet.

The show was in the Dojo so no shoes are permitted, which makes it all the more interesting, and me all the more shorter, with less people to choose from, but as last year, a "star" was born, Last year a paralympic hopeful for Beijing called Myles porter became a legend of the Dojo by volunteering his imagination to me.

This Year, a Judoka named Tad, volunteered himself, normally a quiet reserved gentleman, very timid and understated, well until he let go of course, here are some snaps to demonstrate

At this point Tad had lost the number seven and couldnt quite understand why he had eleven fingers, please note the lack of footwear, I did have my black and red socks on, I was going to wear my Union jack socks but quite simply forgot to pack them.

Dont you just get the urge to become John Travolta every so often, just throw your hands up and down to the sound track of grease lightning, well Tad did, and when the music stopped he wondered what the hell he was doing. He had some serious sideburns so it was inevitable, he had to become the legend the king, Mr Elvis Presley

I have to take my hat off to Tad, for volunteering, he was a great guy who showed that imagination is much stronger than the will.

I also took my hat off for him when he thought he was naked, just to help him cover up, but he decided to use the gym balls instead. the final picture I will post is of Tad lapdancing for Heidi Moore, one of the sensei at Denver Dojo, It was amusing as he was Gyrating well, and she enjoyed every minute of while her husband Scott looked on and couldnt stop laughing. (fortunatley)

So once again, a succesful amusing and fantastic trip to Denver, next year they are coming to me, where I will get a full show read for them to come too.

The Man in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what THAT man has to say.

For it isn't your father or mother or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

Some people may think you a straight-shootin' chum
And call you a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.

He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of life
And get pats on your back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the man in the glass.

Just another night in Dreamland

Would you like to know what its like to be fully in the moment?

Just for a moment,
stop everything and read this...............

Do you know what it's like to be fully in the moment....?
In the here and now ...
with no internal dialogue or thoughts,

If thoughts come in, notice them... and let them go..... and just keep reading.......

Allow all the sights and sounds of your present moment to flood into your awareness.

Use your peripheral vision to notice the shapes and colours of those objects all around you.
To the front, left and right.

Now focus on something close to you, like these letters and words you are reading.......

How easily you can see minute details of colour and shape.
Keep looking at the smallest details........

And as you look at the detail, be aware of what is in your peripheral vision too.

Start to sense how you are experiencing this present moment only

Listen to the sounds that are around you..
Background noises. Hums, traffic outside maybe, the sound of your breathing

AND now turn your attention to the sensations you can feel on your body.
The flow of air on your skin. The temperature in the room. The weight of your body in the chair.

Be aware of your arms and shoulders.
Your fingers. Your neck and head. Your face.

How does it feel.............To be still, to be silent

There is only the now...the present moment....
What you can see. What you can hear. What you can touch and sense in your body.

What you can smell and taste.
Watching, hearing, sensing,

NOW, in the present moment only.
